Get That Look
Styled by Me from Poshmark Closets.
Inspiration: Grey’s Anatomy
“…but he is not the sun. You are.” – Cristina Yang
I had a blast putting together three great outfits inspired by The Notebook in my last few posts! But now I’d like to change gears a bit, and put together some of my favorite looks from one of my favorite TV shows – Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve watched the entirety of this show on Netflix over a dozen times, and it is one of the few shows that I make a point to stay up to date with as it airs. There’s a lot about the show that resonates with me, so I know that I’ll have fun putting together these looks.
Let’s set the scene: Meredith and Cristina have danced it out right before she is headed off to take over Burke’s Heart Research. Just when Cristina is about to walk away she turns around and reminds Mer that she is a “gifted surgeon with an extraordinary mind. Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he is not the sun. You are.” As if we didn’t already need tissues during our good-bye to Cristina?
One thing we know about Meredith is that she is anything but ordinary. She has been through more traumatic events than any one character should ever have to, and yet she persists. Today’s Get That Look! is inspired by the head of General Surgery, Dr. Meredith Grey. How could we not be inspired by a Harper Avery winner? Mer is almost always seen in her dark blue scrubs and white doctor’s coat and, up until this season, Derek’s ferry boat scrub cap.
From the closet @annaleolin, I chose a navy blue, v-neck shirt that is similar in style to a scrub top but looks less like a hospital uniform and a lot more comfy. Available in a size M.
As for Mer’s scrub bottoms, I chose these Onio brand navy blue pants in a size M from my own closet @antiquamrenoPM. These pants are a loose, comfortable fit with a drawstring waistband.
And of course we need a white doctor’s coat to make the look more accomplished. I was so happy when I found this perfect H&M white coat from the closet @missjadie. It is available in a size 2. I went with a size 2 even though the top and pants are a size M because the doctors coats are always open and more fitted.
To finish this look we can’t forget that every surgeon needs comfortable shoes – after all they are on their feet for hours on end saving lives. From the closet @bryleev, these navy blue and white Nike Zoom Pegasus shoes look comfortable and easy to run in, just in case someone is coding in the ER on the other side of the hospital and you are needed STAT. Available is a size 7.5.
The Complete Look:
But wait, doctors certainly need caffeine (don’t we all!). As a final accessory to this outfit, you can embrace your inner Meredith Grey and “escape the ordinary” with this blue tumbler, from the closet @jenilynn95.
I hope you liked my first post for Get That Look: Grey’s Anatomy! Let me know what you think!
